| Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco “Consulate on Wings” Reaches Utah |

The Philippine Consulate
General in San Francisco today reported that outreach services
dubbed “Consulate on Wings” (COW) were successfully
completed on August 24-27 in the State of Utah in coordination
with local officials and the Filipino American community of
Salt Lake City and the nearby areas.
Consul General Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez led the Philippine
Consulate General San Francisco team to Salt Lake City which
included Tourism Director Rene Delos Santos, Vice Consul Arvic
Arevalo, Ms. Ma. Aurora Marquez, Ms. Josephine Banez and Mr.
Domingo Nebres.
The outreach mission to Utah is the seventh outreach program
undertaken by the Philippine Consulate in San Francisco. It
is the first time for a Philippine consular team from San Francisco
to visit the “Beehive State” since 1998. |

| “We are committed
to reach out and provide consular service to our kababayans
in the ten states under our jurisdiction and fulfill our mission
of partnering with the Filipino American community and advancing
the interests of the Philippines”, said Philippine Consul
General to San Francisco Maria Rowena Mendoza Sanchez. “The
outreach to Utah is historic as it is the first outreach program
to the State of Utah in this century and I am looking forward
to more missions in the future not only to render consular service
but also to pursue trade, investment, tourism and community
relations with Utah”, she added. |

In pursuit of advancing the relations between the Philippines and the State of Utah, Consul General Sanchez with Tourism Director Rene Delos Santos and Vice Consul Arvic Arevalo held separate meetings with the State and local officials and business organizations. The meetings were held with: Mary Maughan, Senior Advisor to US Senator Robert F. Benett; Tim Sheehan, State Director of US Senator Robert F. Benett; Sean Firth, Utah Legislative Liaison of US Senator Orrin G. Hatch; John Tanner, Constituent Service Representative of Congressman Rob Bishop; State Director Mike Reberg of the Office of Congressman Jim Matheson; Field Director Gordon Jones of the Office of Congressman Chris Cannon; Director Luz M. Robles and Edith Mitko of the Office of Ethnic Affairs of the Department of Community and Culture of Utah; Wayde Eyerly, Representative of Regional Director Brett Heimburger of the Governor’s Office of Economic Development; Salt Lake County Mayor Peter Corroon; Sam Guevarra, Chief of Staff of Salt Lake City Mayor Ross Anderson; Sandra Marler, Sister Cities Coordinator of Salt Lake City; Richard Nelson, President and CEO of the Utah Technology Council; Heidi Ballif, Vice President of the Salt Lake Chamber; Greg Graul, Chief Operations Officer of Western Wats, and Dennis Macbeth, Manager for Visa and Travel Support of the The Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter-Day Saints. |

| The COW team renders consular service to Filipino Americans in Utah. |

| More than 150 Filipino American residents of Utah showed up to avail of Consular Services at the Salt Lake City and County Building whole-day of August 25; at the Red Lion Hotel in the evening of August 25 and at the Salt Lake City Library, whole-day of August 26. The consular team processed applications for dual citizenship, passports, visa, legal/notarial and civil registry services. The San Francisco team also attended to queries on assistance to Filipino nationals working in the State of Utah. |
